Description
Each KPV peptide 5mg vial at Sports Technology Labs contains 5mg of KPV, lyophilized and sealed. In short, it’s an alpha-MSH derived tripeptide. Sports Technology Labs supplies it for in-vitro research only.
Background on KPV
KPV is the tripeptide lysine-proline-valine, the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone. It keeps alpha-MSH’s anti-inflammatory activity without the pigment effects.
It’s small enough to be taken up by gut cells through the PepT1 transporter, which is why it’s studied in models of gut inflammation.
What KPV does in cells
Alpha-MSH calms inflammation through melanocortin receptors. KPV is its last three amino acids and keeps much of that anti-inflammatory activity.
Inside cells it lowers NF-kappaB signaling, the switch for many inflammatory genes. Gut cells take it up through the PepT1 transporter, which is why colitis models are where most of the work is.

What the literature says about KPV
Dalmasso and colleagues reported in Gastroenterology (2008) that KPV reduced inflammation in mouse colitis models and was taken up through PepT1.
Laroui and colleagues later packaged KPV in nanoparticles and saw similar effects in mice.

KPV and its alternatives
Quick context: KPV is the three-amino-acid tail of alpha-MSH, studied for calming inflammation. Other compounds in the same area:
- BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid fragment of a gastric protein, studied for new blood vessel growth and tissue repair
- TB-500 is synthetic thymosin beta-4, an actin-binding peptide tied to cell migration
- PEG-MGF is a pegylated splice variant of IGF-1 studied in muscle repair
- GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide linked to collagen and wound remodeling
They map onto different stages of repair: new blood vessels, cell migration, inflammation and rebuilding the tissue matrix. Compare them in our healing and recovery peptides.
How to dissolve KPV peptide 5mg
The vial holds 5mg of freeze-dried powder. Divide that by the millilitres of diluent you add and you have the concentration:
- 1mL of diluent gives 5mg per mL
- 2mL of diluent gives 2.5mg per mL
- 3mL of diluent gives 1.667mg per mL
Diluent isn’t included, and most labs use bacteriostatic water. Let the vial reach room temperature, swab the stopper and let the liquid run slowly down the glass. Swirl, don’t shake, until it’s clear.
Keeping KPV peptide 5mg stable
Keep the sealed vial in the fridge at 2 to 8°C, away from light and heat. Once mixed, keep KPV peptide 5mg refrigerated, use it within 30 days and don’t freeze the solution.
Mix one vial at a time. Powder keeps for months, solution for weeks.
How Sports Technology Labs tests KPV peptide 5mg
Sports Technology Labs doesn’t test its own products. MZ Biolabs in Tucson, Arizona, does, using HPLC for purity and mass spectrometry for identity. For this listing the posted result is 100.00%.
The COA image is in the product gallery at the top of this page, so you can read the batch result before you order.
HPLC and mass spec answer different questions. HPLC tells you what share of the sample is the main compound. Mass spec tells you the compound is the right molecule. A COA with only one of them leaves a gap.
You also get a 60-day money-back guarantee on the order.
